There will be no reconciliation and cooperation between Ukrainians and Russians in the next hundred years.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmihal stated this in an interview with the German edition of Focus.
Reconciliation, cooperation – no, not in the next hundred years. Russia must first change, be democratized, demilitarized and denuclearized,” Shmigal notes.
According to Shmyhal, there are the following steps to disarm Russia: sanctions, refusal to cooperate with the Russian Federation, confiscation of Russian assets and military assistance to Ukraine.
The past year has shown that the world can very quickly do things that previously seemed impossible. The supply of almost all types of heavy weapons, as well as the training of Ukrainian pilots, means that there is a prospect for further steps, he noted.
The prime minister notes that concessions to Russia through “compromises” regarding the territorial integrity of Ukraine are an unacceptable way to end the conflict both for the Ukrainian authorities and society, and for Europe.
The only compromise is the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine to the 1991 borders. The Russians must stop shooting, stop the aggression and leave our territory, he stressed.
Also, an unacceptable option to stop the bloodshed is “freezing the conflict.”
This will only play into the hands of Russia and lead to another big war. This is unacceptable for us,” the prime minister emphasizes.
