The Armed Forces of Ukraine in the spring of 2023 will be ready to launch a counteroffensive.
One of the strategic goals will be an attempt to “drive a wedge into the Russian front in the south between the occupied Crimea and the Russian mainland.” However, the specific timing of the offensive depends on a number of factors, including the supply of modern weapons from the allies. This was stated by Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Vadym Skibitsky, DW reports.
The intelligence officer did not rule out that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would strike at Russian warehouses located on Russian territory, in particular in the Belgorod region. For it is from this enemy region that attacks on Ukraine will start.
This poses a threat, for example, to Kharkov,” Skibitsky said.
The representative of the GUR once again stressed that the goal of the Ukrainian counter-offensive is to liberate all the occupied territories, including Crimea. The Armed Forces of Ukraine will stop after the country is restored within the borders of 1991.
Recall that the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Major General Kirill Budanov, expressed confidence that Russia would be forced to withdraw its troops from the territory of Ukraine under pressure from the Ukrainian army, internal Russian political processes and under pressure from diplomacy.
