The French leader announced a visit to China and called on Beijing to help the West put pressure on Russia.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced his intention to pay an official visit to China, urging Beijing to help Europe put pressure on Russia, BFMTV reports.
“I myself will go to China in early April. China should help us put pressure on Russia not to use chemical or nuclear weapons and stop this aggression as a prerequisite for negotiations,” he said, which urging Beijing not to transfer any weapons to Russia.
According to the French leader, peace is only possible if the Russian aggression is stopped, the troops are withdrawn and the territorial sovereignty of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people are respected.
“The fact that China is joining the peace effort is very good,” Macron said.
Remember, on February 24, China presented a “peace plan” to resolve the war on the territory of Ukraine. The document gives a ceasefire and peace talks between Ukraine and Russia as key points.
In response to the initiative, the United States said that China may stop at the first point of the plan, namely respect for the sovereignty of all countries.
The Office of the President of Ukraine has noted that any “peace plan” that provides for a ceasefire and a new demarcation line will continue Russia’s occupation and genocide on the country’s territory.
