The Pulitzer Prize for Special Mention has been awarded irregularly since the 1930s. During this time, it has been awarded 46 times. Its winners are individual journalists, writers, newspapers, but never before – all journalists of a country. In 1945, cartographers working in the American press were recognized with this nomination “for maps of military operations that helped to dramatically clarify the situation on the front and increase public awareness of the development of the units. of the army and navy. ”
The Pulitzer Prize was awarded by Columbia University and is considered the most prestigious journalism award in the United States. Winners are selected in 15 categories in the field of journalism and in seven categories in the field of art. Their full list is published on the award website.
