The document calls on Russia to stop hostilities and withdraw its troops from Ukraine, and also incorporates key provisions of the Ukrainian “peace formula”.
The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution proposed by Ukraine on the anniversary of the Russian invasion. It was discussed on Thursday, February 23, in the broadcast of a meeting of the UN General Assembly.
The resolution requires Russia to complete the withdrawal of troops from Ukraine and the cessation of hostilities, and also combines the main provisions of the Ukrainian “peace formula”.
141 of the 193 member countries voted in favor of the resolution, while Russia, Belarus, Syria, North Korea, Eritrea, Nicaragua and Mali voted against. Another 32 countries abstained from voting.

As noted in the resolution, the UN General Assembly reaffirms its commitment to the unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.
The document also calls for the proper treatment of prisoners of war, full compliance with international humanitarian law, “immediate cessation of attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.”
Separately mentioned is the need to “ensure accountability for the most serious crimes under international law committed on the territory of Ukraine through appropriate, fair and independent investigations and prosecutions at the national or international level.”
The resolution also called on UN members to work together to overcome the international consequences of Russia’s all-out war against Ukraine and “stressed that steps to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine must consider these factors.”
It will be remembered that China said that it had developed its own “peace formula” for Ukraine, but in Kyiv they replied that they had not seen it.
Earlier, Kuleba called on UN member states to vote for the Ukrainian version of the resolution.
