China is “deeply concerned” that Russia’s all-out war against Ukraine is “out of control.”
This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang, speaking at the opening of a security conference, writes CNN.
China is deeply concerned about the constant escalation of the conflict and the possibility of spinning out of control… We call on the countries concerned to immediately stop adding fuel to the fire, blaming China and fanning the rhetoric “today is Ukraine, tomorrow is Taiwan,” Qin Gang said at the Lanting Forum, Chinese Foreign Ministry, to CNN in Pekin.
The Chinese representative’s statement came amid a visit to Moscow by high-ranking diplomat Wang Yi and statements by US officials that Beijing is considering providing lethal military assistance to Russia.
On February 20, Wang Yi said that China is ready to cooperate with other countries to achieve a ceasefire and lasting peace in Ukraine.
At the same time, China released the “Global Security Initiative Concept Paper”, which proposes the basic concepts, principles and mechanisms for cooperation between states. The document speaks of respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, regardless of their size, strength, financial situation (“Their internal affairs do not tolerate external interference, their sovereignty and dignity must be respected, and their right to independently choose social systems and development paths must be supported “). China also stands for the observance of the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and the resolution of disputes “through dialogue.”
Recall that China did not condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and refrained from calling it a “war”, while Beijing accepts the Russian narrative of a “special military operation” for which NATO and the United States are responsible.
