Ukraine will receive the AMX-10 light tanks promised earlier by France “before the end of next week”.
This was stated in an interview with Le Parisien by French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu, Le Figaro reports.
Training is nearing completion, these tanks will be delivered by the end of next week, the minister said.
At the same time, he refused to say exactly how many tanks he was talking about, “so as not to give strategic information to Russia.”
Lecarnu also reaffirmed France’s position not yet to supply the Leclerc tanks requested by Kiev, believing that, having “limited success in exports,” they cannot be mass-produced, unlike the German Leopards.
Recall that France’s intention to transfer AMX-10 tanks to Ukraine became known in early January. In mid-January, Lecornu announced that the AMX-10 would be delivered to Ukraine in two months.
