173 more people fled Mariupol – the mayor’s office

Ten buses arrived in Ukraine’s controlled territory, where 173 people were released from the besieged Mariupol and Azovstal. This was announced on Sunday, May 8, at the Mariupol City Council.

Authorities expressed their gratitude to the city’s defenders for the opportunity to rescue the people, as well as to the UN, Red Cross and Minister Irina Vereshchuk for organizing the operation.

“Thank you for this to all the valiant defenders of Azovstal. At the cost of three lives of our soldiers and six wounded soldiers, we were able to capture and remove the civilians at the plant,” the message said.

At the same time, fighters from the Azov regime said that in the last evacuation, the Russian occupiers separated the mother and her 4 -year -old daughter – the mother was left in the so -called filtration camp, and the child woman was brought to Zaporozhye. The military called on the international community to intervene in the situation.

Recall, on the eve of President Volodymyr Zelensky said that de-blockade of Mariupol by military means is still impossible due to lack of heavy weapons.
