Ukraine must launch a counter-offensive and win, and then negotiations can begin, the French leader said.
Peace talks with the aggressor country Russia are impossible, because it has decided to continue the escalation. This is what French President Emmanuel Macron said at the Munich Security Conference on Friday, February 17.
“Now the time for dialogue has not come, because Russia chooses war, chooses to escalate the war. Russia has decided to attack civilian infrastructure and commit war crimes. Accordingly, Russia will not and will not win in this war. Its attack must end in defeat,” he said.
According to Macron, the civilized world must make efforts to ensure that the use of force does not become something normal, otherwise the stability of the world will be discussed. In this regard, Ukraine needs to be provided with resources for a counter-offensive.
“We must intensify our efforts to support Ukraine so that Ukraine itself can launch a counter-offensive, win victory and start the negotiation process,” the French president said.
He assured that France is ready to intensify its efforts in the coming weeks and months, because they will be decisive.
Macron also said that Russia is creating imbalance and injustice not only in Ukraine, not only in the Caucasus and not only in Africa, using Wagner PMCs.
“We have seen this for several years. We have seen how Russia continues to pursue this line. I spoke with Putin a year ago and I believe that the Wagner PMC is not his. But now it has entered the army of Russia. In fact, the PMC is a tool , which Russia uses everywhere. This PMC commits crimes,” concluded Macron.
Recall that France and Italy decided to send the SAMP / T anti-aircraft system, also called Mamba, to Ukraine.
It has also been reported that France will provide Ukraine with an air defense radar.
