China’s top diplomat Wang I met with French President Emmanuel Macron.
China supports “political ways” to resolve the “conflict” in Ukraine, CNN quoted Wang I as saying after the talks in Paris.
Wang Yi stressed that China insists on objectivity on this issue and always tries to promote peace and negotiate, the Chinese embassy in France said in a statement.
They also traditionally noted that China is ready to work with the international community to find political means to achieve a ceasefire and end hostilities as soon as possible.
At the Elysee Palace, following the meeting, politicians said that the countries have a “common goal” – the establishment of peace in Ukraine.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is considering meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister at a security conference in Munich, February 17-19. This is with reference to sources who wished to remain anonymous, according to Bloomberg.
The meeting will take place with the consent of both parties, the interlocutors specified.
Subsequently, the State Department denied information about a likely meeting between Wang Yi and Blinken in Munich.
Recall that China has long declared its “neutral” position on Russia’s war against Ukraine, which Beijing calls the “Ukrainian crisis”.
The PRC has repeatedly repeated the cliché of Russian propaganda that Russia “provoked” NATO and the United States into the war, and also did not condemn the war that Moscow is waging to destroy the Ukrainian people, but at the same time declared its adherence to the principle of territorial integrity and inviolability of established borders.
Chinese officials regularly call for negotiations and say they are for world peace.
