Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen arrived in Kyiv on an unannounced visit.
For the first time since the beginning of a full-scale war, an Israeli official of such a high level comes to Ukraine.
Eli Cohen plans to visit Bucha and Babi Yar, as well as attend the reopening of the Israeli embassy in Kyiv, which ceased operations due to the Russian invasion.
It is expected that at a meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian authorities, the head of the Israeli Foreign Ministry will discuss issues of strengthening humanitarian, economic and military assistance to Ukraine.
Israel can do more in terms of providing humanitarian support to Ukraine and providing it with systems to prevent air attacks, but it does not have the capacity and sufficient stocks of weapons that could be supplied to Kiev without compromising its own security, the head of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Security Committee said on the eve.
