Russians will receive “facilitated conditions” for trips to six countries, including India and Indonesia, Sergey Lavrov promised.
Russia plans to introduce a visa-free regime with 11 countries and a simplified procedure for issuing visas to another six. This is what Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said during a government hour in the State Duma on Wednesday, February 15.
“We are working on facilitating the visa regime. Now it is already planned to sign completely visa-free travel with about 11 countries, with six more, if I’m not mistaken, including India, Indonesia – facilitated conditions, very simple,” he said.
Earlier, MIRF said that the Russian authorities are considering the possibility of abolishing the visa regime in Bahrain, Kuwait, Zambia, Malaysia, Mexico and some Caribbean countries (Bahamas, Barbados, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, St. . Lucia).
Lavrov added that the lifting of restrictions on the issuance of electronic visas in a large number of countries is now being done: “There are about 70 countries, except for unfriendly ones, that have stopped issuing visa with us in a simplified way. .”
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also lamented that the amount of tourism in Russia is not affected by the visa issue, but by logistical restrictions.
“Logistics is now complicated because of the decisions to stop direct flights, you have to travel by bedposts,” admitted the minister.
It was previously reported that nine EU countries have stopped issuing visas to tourists from Russia. The tourist flow from Russia to Europe during the summer of 2022 is 90-95% lower than pre-Covid 2019.
And in September, the EU Council’s decision to suspend the visa facilitation agreement with Russia began.
