The Russian side offered to concentrate 70% of the localization of production capacities in India, but these conditions did not suit him.
The Deputy Chairman of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Drozhzhov, said that India actually froze negotiations with Russia on the purchase of Ka-226T helicopters, despite the fact that the Russian Federation are ready to transfer technology and localize their production in Indian factories. It was reported by Interfax.
“Unfortunately, negotiations with Indian partners at the level of localization of Ka-226T helicopter production are almost frozen,” he said.
Drozhzhov said that the Indian Ministry of Defense did not meet the level of localization proposed by the joint venture, that is, the Russian side proposed to consider 70% of the localization of production capacities in India.
According to him, Delhi’s decision to continue the negotiation process is now expected. India has been offered to buy the multi-purpose Ka-226T which is already in production, but no concrete decision has been made on this option yet.
According to the publication, the agreement between the Russian Federation and India on cooperation in the field of aircraft production was signed in 2015. The document states that the Russian Helicopters holding company will organize the supply and localization of 200 Ka-226T aircraft and their modifications in India, 140 helicopters are planned to be produced at facilities in India. However, the contract worth one billion dollars has not yet been finalized.
Remember that in India they started making AK-203 assault rifles in a joint Russian-Indian enterprise.
It has also been reported that, according to media reports, India has been the top consumer of Russian oil for several months.
