In the village of Golikovo near Moscow, Vladimir Makarov, former deputy head of the main department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the fight against extremism (Center “E”), was found dead.

In January, the paths dismissed 72-year-old Major General Makarov. After that, he allegedly fell into depression and complained to his relatives that he did not know what he should do next.
The “specialization” of the general was the “hunt” for oppositionists, journalists, etc.
Makarov’s body was discovered on the morning of February 13 in his country house. According to preliminary data, he committed suicide. “MK” reports that firearms were kept in the house.
Center “E”, which headed the suicide, was created in the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2008. This is a repressive body whose employees persecute protesters and, in particular, follow publications in social networks that criticize the authorities.
In January, together with Makarov, they also fired:
- Head of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Tula Region Sergey Galkin;
- Dmitry Demidenko, Head of the Main Directorate for Migration Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs;
- Anton Romeyko-Gurko, head of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the northwestern administrative district of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Moscow;
- Chief of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the western administrative district of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Moscow, Boris Sheinkin.
