The city council at a meeting on February 9 renamed 31 streets, lanes, avenues and boulevards, whose names are associated with Russia and the Soviet past. This was announced by the mayor of the capital Vitali Klitschko.
In particular, in Kyiv they renamed and changed a number of names:

Victory Avenue became Beresteisky;

lane Michurin – Bolsunovsky;

Brest-Litovsk highway – Beresteyskoye highway;

Petrovskaya street – Voznesensky Yar.
Having received legal grounds – the decision of the Ministry of Culture – yesterday in Kyiv they dismantled a monument to the Soviet pilot Chkalov. And today they removed the monument to the Soviet commander Vatutin. The capital is also awaiting the decision of the Ministry of Culture, which will allow the removal of the monument to one of the military leaders of the Bolsheviks – Shchors, which the people of Kiev have long insisted on, – said the mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko.
