Ambassador of Peru to Turkey, Caesar Houses, assured this Monday that so far not a single compatriot has been injured or killed as a result of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that has affected the entire country. At the same time, he clarified that there are only 207 officially registered Peruvians, although he did not rule out that there are unregistered ones.
“We have 207 Peruvians registered. Nine of them live in the area where the earthquake occurred, but no one was injured or died. We had direct contact with each of them to rule out any accidents. we are vigilant because there may be other undocumented Peruvians who may have passed through the area and for this reason we are constantly coordinating with the authorities,” he told the multi-platform RPP Noticias.
From houses pointed out that the majority of Peruvians live in the western part Turkeyespecially in Istanbul and Ankara. He also clarified that there is always a connection with our compatriots.
“We are in Ankara. The earthquake is almost not felt, here, where most Peruvians live, they did not feel aftershocks, but this is impossible to predict, and there is always a risk of earthquakes occurring in other parts of the country, as happens in Peru, ”he added.
The ambassador indicated that the number for anyone who wants to contact the Turkish national authorities is 905330410885.
