The Russian Federation accepts the “beneficial” decisions of an independent country, but has the right to a “proportionate response” in the case of a threat.
Russia reserves the right to a proportional response if Bosnia and Herzegovina joins NATO or any organization opposed to Moscow. This was stated by the Russian Ambassador in Sarajevo Igor Kalabukhov in a text published on February 7 on the occasion of Russia’s “Day of Diplomacy”.
“Bosnia and Herzegovina is free to take any step on the world stage. To join any organization – political, economic, cultural, whatever. If the majority of citizens want it, if it will benefit the country, it is will stimulate development, strengthen relations with other peoples of the world – all right, we will accept it with sincere joy,” said the ambassador.
At the same time, according to him, the leadership of Bosnia and Herzegovina should understand that if a country joins a bloc whose main goal is the destruction of Russia, then the Russian Federation “has the right to defend itself.”
“Here one can object that, hypothetically, joining NATO or the EU could be associated with completely different intentions that have nothing to do with Russia … But let’s be realistic – if the condition that Brussels or Washington dictates to deploy nuclear systems with missiles aimed at Moscow “, then conditional Sarajevo, as a member of the organizations under their leadership, will be forced to do so. So yes, the choice is free, but please don’t limit our right to reply. Of course, proportional,” stressed Kalabukhov.
He summed up that until the Russian Federation was 100% sure “of the truth of the evil plans”, no one pressed the red button.
It will be recalled that in March last year, the Russian ambassador threatened Bosnia and Herzegovina with a “Ukrainian scenario.”
As you know, NATO invited Bosnia and Herzegovina to join the Membership Action Plan in 2010. At the same time, the Serbian part of BiH (Republic of Srpska) in 2017 declared military neutrality.
