The official investigation against the former head of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov has been completed. This was stated by Fyodor Venislavsky, a member of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense and intelligence, on the air of Radio Liberty.
Special procedures for verifying Bakanov have been completed. I think that this society will be informed when necessary. Because these are stamped test materials, materials with limited access. Yesterday we also received an answer where Bakanov is. He is in Ukraine, – said Venislavsky.
He referred to the data received from the new head of the SBU, Vasily Malyuk.
At the same time, the secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, Roman Kostenko, who is also familiar with the investigation, said that he did not know whether illegal actions were found in Bakanov’s activities.
Recall that President Vladimir Zelensky removed Bakanov from his duties as head of the SBU in July last year for “failure to perform (improper performance) of official duties, which led to human casualties or other grave consequences or created a threat of such consequences.” He has been in the above position since 2019.
