237 people have been killed in the earthquake in Syria. This was reported on Monday, February 6 by the SANA agency with reference to the Ministry of Health of the Republic.
It is known that at least 639 more people have been injured and the numbers could rise as rescue efforts continue, being carried out in stormy weather with heavy rain.
Most of the victims and injured were recorded in the provinces of Latakia, Aleppo, Hama and Tartus. Dozens of people remain under the rubble of collapsed buildings.
This information does not take into account the dead and wounded in areas of Syria not controlled by Damascus.
The country’s Ministry of Transportation announced the suspension of rail traffic in the northern regions, due to possible damage to tracks and bridge structures.
