Canada has confirmed the sighting of the alleged high-altitude spy balloon and is “monitoring for a possible second incident” related to the event, Defense Canada said in a statement.
“Discovered observation balloon at high altitude and NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command, consisting of the US and Canada) actively monitors their movements, the statement explains.
“Canadians are safe and Canada is taking steps to ensure the safety of its airspace, including monitoring for a possible second incident,” added in a note that does not provide further details on this possible new incident.
It also states that “NORAD, the Armed Forces CanadaThe Ministry of National Defense and other partners are assessing the situation and are working closely together.”
