Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal said on Thursday that war in Ukraine has so far caused damage to the country in the amount of 550 to 690 billion euros.
“According to the World Bank, as of June 1 last year Russia called in Ukraine damage and destruction costing $350 billion to repair. [320 000 millones de euros]”, he said at a meeting in Kyiv with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
“At the beginning of 2023, this amount may already be from 600 to 750 billion dollars. [entre 550 000 y 690 000 millones de euros]”, he added in a statement quoted by Ukrinform.
Shmyhal pointed out that the main source of funding for the reconstruction Ukraine Russian funds must be confiscated, since it is Moscow that must pay for the destruction it has caused.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine also announced that Kyiv has signed an agreement with the European Union (EU) to participate in the single market program, a financing mechanism to improve economic integration.
The goal of the program is to promote the transition to green and digital technologies and increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian companies.
Today, von der Leyen and the rest of the EC went to Kyiv, where tomorrow they will have a summit with European Council President Charles Michel and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
