Sources told the publication that the top US diplomat will meet with Xi Jinping on a two-day visit starting Sunday, Feb. 5.
Blinken will travel to China after US President Joe Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping agreed in November to find ways to strengthen relations between Washington and Beijing.
Blinken will reportedly be the first Secretary of State to meet with Xi in China since Rex Tillerson’s visit in 2017, the first year of the Donald Trump administration. Blinken will also be the first government minister of President Joe Biden to visit China.
