The Iron Dome air defense system may appear in Ukraine in the future.
The issue of the transfer of this unique anti-missile system is being considered. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said this in an interview with CNN.
Well, I’m certainly considering it,” he noted.
At the same time, Netanyahu did not make any promises, but stressed that he was ready to mediate in the conflict if the belligerents and the United States agreed to do so.
As you know, the Iron Dome is a mobile air defense system developed by the Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. The development of the dome was also funded by the United States in the amount of $200 million. Its task is to protect the country from ballistic and cruise missiles, shells and other airborne threats.
According to the developers, the effectiveness of the “Iron Dome” exceeds 90%. The batteries of this air defense consist of interceptor missiles, radars and control systems that analyze where an enemy projectile can hit.
Radar technology distinguishes between which missiles can reach residential areas of a city and which cannot. The system then decides which ones to intercept.
Recall that in November, the head of the Israeli National Security Headquarters, Eyal Khulat, said that the Israeli side would begin supplying weapons to Ukraine if Iran sold its ballistic missiles to Russia.
