GM 200 air defense radars will receive the armed forces of Ukraine.
On February 1, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, together with his French counterpart Sebastian Lecornu and Thales, signed a memorandum on the supply of these radars. France will finance the purchase of this equipment, which will help Ukrainian armies spot enemy drones and missiles, including ballistic ones. Reznikova announced this on Twitter.
Our skies will be protected from deadly Russian attacks,” the minister wrote.
GM 200 radars meet the most stringent operational requirements and can track enemy targets at both low and high altitudes. These systems can coordinate the work of anti-aircraft systems from very short to medium range – 250 km in surveillance mode and 100 km in combat mode.
In addition, the GM 200 is special in that it can also warn of rocket, artillery and mortar fire. This radar can also report surface targets, track ships and small watercraft.
Recall, after the meeting of the last “Ramstein” it became known that Germany is preparing a spring package of defense assistance to Ukraine for 1 billion euros. The emphasis will be on air defense.
