General Atomics has offered to sell Ukraine Reaper MQ-9 drones, which can be used for intelligence gathering and also carry weapons.
The American defense company General Atomics is offering to sell two high-speed long-range Reaper MQ-9 drones to Ukraine for one dollar, reports The Wall Street Journal.
It was noted that this proposal must first be approved by the White House.
It was also reported that the deal would require Kyiv to spend about $10 million to prepare and send the aircraft to Ukraine and about $8 million a year to maintain and support drone models not currently in use in Ukraine . But, the company will cover the cost of training personnel to work with the drones.
The Reaper has a wingspan of about 66 feet and can fly for more than 24 hours. Drones can be used for intelligence gathering and can also carry weapons.
Recall that in April Ukraine began negotiations on the purchase of American heavy attack drones MQ-9 Reaper.
At the end of September, US congressmen asked to speed up the Pentagon’s consideration of the request of the Ukrainian authorities for the supply of large unmanned aerial vehicles.
