In the coming days, an additional military contingent will arrive in the Kursk region, said the governor of the region, Roman Starovoit.
It is necessary to provide comprehensive support for the reception and deployment of additional forces and means so that the military personnel can begin to carry out tasks to protect the state border and ensure the security of the Kursk region as soon as possible, he told Kommersant.
The Russian authorities have repeatedly stated that the Kursk region is allegedly being shelled by Ukraine.
Additional troops have been transferred to the region bordering the Sumy region twice already – in spring and autumn, Kommersant notes.
The newspaper also reports that there are Wagner training centers in the region.
Observers on January 25 reported strategic bombers over the Kursk region. Volunteer service “Monitoring of military activity” in its Telegram reported that it observed Tu-22M3 bombers over the Kursk region (this is at odds with the usual practice when long-range bombers operate from a long distance) from Ukraine – often from the Caspian Sea region.
