A former aide to Mike Pence said Sunday that former President Donald Trump is too shallow to pick Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) as his 2024 running mate. (See former assistant’s comments below).
Olivia Troye, Pence’s former adviser on the White House’s coronavirus task force, shared her thoughts on Greene after an NBC News report detailed the Republican’s hopes of being Trump’s pick.
Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon told NBC News he spoke with Greene about his ambitions; however, on Wednesday, the Georgia lawmaker said he had not discussed it with him.
Troye told MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart that “unfortunately for [Greene]Frankly, Donald Trump is a shallow human being.
“And I don’t think he’s going to meet the right look for him,” Troye said. “I hate to say this to put another woman down, but we know how shallow this man is.”
Troye also told Capehart that “raised and empowered Republicans are the crazy ones” in the party.
He said people should take Greene’s potential interest in the vice presidency seriously, noting that Trump’s 2016 bid was considered a joke before his victory.
“When I look at people like Marjorie Taylor Greene who say they want to be vice president one day under Trump, I’m not ruling it out,” Troye said. “I actually think it’s a very big concern.”
