An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 occurred on January 28 in the northwestern part of Iran. Three people are known to have died.
The epicenter of the tremors was located 23 km southeast of the city of Hoi An, where 175,000 people live. The earthquake cell lies at a depth of 7 km. This was reported by IRNA in relation to the governor of the province, Mohammad Sadegh Motamedyan.
The number of victims of the earthquake rose to 816, three people died. According to preliminary estimates, the earthquake caused damage to two cities and more than 70 villages, destroying 20-50% of the buildings, the governor said.
Let us remind you, earlier in the northwest of Iran there was an earthquake with a strength of 5.4 points. About 120 people were injured then.
