Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky published a series of photos showing Ukrainian athletes in destroyed gyms and schools, or behind stadiums and sports facilities destroyed by opponents.
So Zelensky reiterated the insistence that Russian athletes have no place in the Olympic movement until the Russian Federation stops the war in Ukraine.
“The principles of Olympic and war are fundamentally opposed to each other. Russia must stop aggression and terrorism, and only after that it will be possible to talk about Russia’s participation in the context of the Olympic movement, ” said the President of Ukraine.
It should be noted, according to the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Vadim Gutsait, more than 300 sports facilities were affected by the war in Ukraine, the total amount of losses reached a quarter a billion dollars.
