A special prosecutor’s office that would investigate the war crimes of the Russian army may appear in Europe.
The European Union is studying the possibility of establishing such an agency. The idea to create a body that will include prosecutors from Ukraine and other countries, this week received wide support from EU members. It is reported by Bloomberg.
It is noted that the European Commission is discussing with the European Agency for Justice Cooperation the powers of the proposed international structure and other issues. At the same time, politicians continue contentious negotiations on a special international tribunal for Ukraine.
It should be reminded that on January 19, the European Parliament approved the idea of creating a tribunal for the leadership of Russia and Belarus. The deputies called on the EU, in close cooperation with Ukraine and international partners, to achieve the creation of a special international tribunal to prosecute the political and military leadership of Russia and its allies.
