The commander of a separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Roman the Great, Colonel Alexander Okhrimenko, said that Ukrainian tankers would cope with both the Leopards and the Abrams.
He believes that the tankers of the 14th OMB, like no one else, are familiar with the Leopard tanks.
The “acquaintance” took place in Germany, during the Strong Europe Tank Challenge, where tankmen from the 14th brigade represented the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Units of the Princely Ombre three times in different years became the winners of the competition for the best tank platoon of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Okhrimenko added that the tankers of the 14th brigade were the main striking force during the battles for the Kiev region at the beginning of a full-scale war – in February-March 2022 – and the basis of the defense of the capital of Ukraine.
Okhrimenko says that weapons from Western partners, in particular Leopard tanks, will allow Ukraine to significantly strengthen the advantage of the Defense Forces on the battlefield, to return territories temporarily occupied by the enemy, including Crimea.
