At least seven people were killed, one seriously leading to two shootings in Half Moon Baya city with a population of just over 11,000 people, located 19 km south of San Francisco (California, USA).
The suspect, a 67-year-old man, turned himself in to authorities shortly after the attack, San Mateo County Sheriff Cristina Corpus confirmed.
Authorities found four dead near farm mushrooms and three more in a nearby place. The eighth victim, who received serious injuries, was taken to the district hospital, according to Korpus.
The alleged perpetrator of the attack, identified as Zhao Chunli, drove up to the parking lot of one of the Half Bay Sheriff’s offices.
Three police officers approached the car, raising their weapons, the man got out of the car and was immediately detained, as can be seen on the video distributed by local media.
Workers were among those injured in the attack, officials said. farm mushrooms and a greenhouse located near the scene, the Corps confirmed.
The sheriff also said that Chulin, the shooter, worked on a farm.
The witnesses of the attack were minors, as in farm several families live, the authorities specified at a press conference.

The motive for the shooting is still unknown, but authorities say the attacker acted alone. A semi-automatic pistol was found in his car.

US President Joe Biden was briefed on Monday night about the attack and asked federal authorities to support local police, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on her Twitter account.

For his part, San Mateo County Council President David Pine stressed that gun violence in the US has reached “unacceptable levels.”
“There are a lot of guns in this country and that needs to change,” Pine said at a press conference with the county sheriff.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also expressed regret over Monday’s events. “We must end the senseless violence,” wrote the Democratic politician who has represented California in Congress for more than 30 years.
The Half Boon attack comes as the state of California begins to recover from yet another mass shooting Saturday night in Monterey Park, 15 miles east of Los Angeles. In this attack during the Chinese New Year celebrations, when thousands of people gathered in the predominantly Asian city, a 72-year-old man killed 11 people. (EFE)
