From all the chaos surrounding Rep. George Santos (RN.Y.) right now, it appears he’s not happy with his performances on late-night television.
Under further investigation for lying extensively about his past to get elected, the New York Republican on Monday directed his attention to the comedians who predictably went to town with the wild scandal still giving.
“I’ve now been enshrined in late night TV history with all these impersonations, but so far they’re all TERRIBLE,” Santos tweeted. “Jon Lovitz is supposed to be one of the greatest comedians of all time, and this was embarrassing — for him, not me! These comedians need to step up their game.
Since his election, Santos has been dogged by a growing list of lies about his life, including misrepresenting his mother’s death, saying his grandparents fled the Holocaust, lying about going to college and claiming Jewish ancestry . To add to the mayhem, he’s also been accused of campaign finance violations, cheated a disabled veteran out of his dying dog, and had a secret past as a drag artist named Kitara in Brazil. (Santos has denied these allegations.)
So with plenty of fodder, the Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert shows all brought in comics to play the lawmaker, as did “Saturday Night Live.” “SNL” alum Jon Lovitz has taken over the role on “The Tonight Show.”
Santos’ bizarre mess on Twitter (and massive inability to read the camera) earned him an extra roast:
Santos even went back and forth with former “RuPaul’s Drag Race” winner Trixie Mattel, who quoted Santos’ comments about a photo that appears to show him in drag:
