Shailene Woodley may have shared some insight into what she went through during her split from Aaron Rodgers.
The “Big Little Lies” star and the Green Bay Packers quarterback split in February, just over a year after announcing their engagement. They were later seen together in public, but reportedly broke up again in April.
In a new interview with Porter, Woodley opened up about a painful time in her life filming “Three Women,” the television adaptation of Lisa Taddeo’s 2019 best-selling book of the same name. The show was filmed from October 2021 to May 2022.
“It was hard to shoot because I was going through the darkest and hardest time of my life; it was winter in New York and my personal life was shit, so I felt like a big bubble of pain for eight months,” Woodley told Porter. “I was so grateful that I could at least go to work and cry and process my emotions through my character.”
Woodley has remained mostly quiet about the end of the engagement. In April, days after it was reported that they had broken up for the second time, she cryptically posted a quote about grief and overcoming darkness.
Elsewhere in the interview, the actor directly addressed the relationship, noting that he’s dating someone “very, very famous.” With that, he said, came “the scrutiny, the opinions, wanting people to know about my life, his life and our life,” which they felt violated.
“I’m a very private person,” she said.
The split follows a tumultuous season for Rodgers, who tested positive for COVID-19 in November 2021 after claiming he was “immunized” against the virus. He later admitted he had not received the COVID-19 vaccine and went on to attack President Joe Biden’s “white house sham” in an anti-vaccine rant.
The two have never spoken about their political differences. However, Woodley has a history of championing progressive causes.
