The leadership of the Ministry of Defense was summoned to the Verkhovna Rada because of the scandal with the purchase of products for the Armed Forces of Ukraine at inflated prices. This was announced by the people’s deputy from the “Servant of the People” Marianna Bezuglaya.
The Deputy Chairman of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence responded to the ZN.UA material, which describes the mechanism for inflating prices for products for soldiers.
Bezuglaya said that the State Audit Service is conducting an audit of the Ministry of Defense, and announced “resonant conclusions.”
Earlier, Ukrainian publications reported that the Ministry of Defense buys products for Ukrainian military personnel several times more expensive than they cost in the capital’s stores, taking into account the extra charge. ZN.ua described several schemes.
For example, we are talking about an agreement worth UAH 13.16 billion, which was concluded on December 23, 2022. According to the document, the Ministry of Defense contracted eggs for 17 UAH per piece (in stores – about 7 UAH per piece), potatoes – for 22 UAH per kg (in stores – about 8-9 UAH), chicken thighs – for 120 UAH per kg (in stores – 80 UAH). Journalists compared purchase prices with average prices in the most common retail chain.
This contract was concluded by the Ministry of Defense with Active Company LLC, whose authorized capital is UAH 1,000.
The journalists emphasized that the Ministry of Defense has not yet responded to their requests in this regard.
