‘High School Musical’ is a film franchise launched in 2006 by the Disney Channel. The plot that accompanies the challenges, romances and dreams of the young people who attended the East High school, was responsible for presenting Vanessa Hudgens like Gabriella, Zac Efron like Troy, Ashley Tisdale like Sharpay, Corbin Bleu Chad, and many other actors who are still remembered today for their iconic roles in feature films.
In addition, a great highlight that the production brings are the songs, where the actors perform great performances with the right to dance on tables, cheerleaders, and even romantic scenes to help pass on the message of the song. — But did all the cast members sing in the film?
THE BIG TRUTH
During the first film, none of the songs featuring Troy Bolton, played by Zac Efron, contains the actor’s real voice. They are actually sung by the singer-songwriter Drew Seeleywho participated in High School Musical’s 2007 world concert tour in place of Zac.
At the time, Disney did not reveal that the songs were dubbed and ended up justifying the absence of efron at concerts as an unavailability due to other professional commitments. Eventually, with great pressure from the public, they ended up coming clean about what really went on behind the scenes.
However, this fact only happened in the first film. In High School Musical 2 and 3, the songs already have the real voice of Troy’s interpreter, who started to take singing lessons so that the problem that occurred in the first film would not happen again. Unfortunately, the world tour also stopped at HSM 1, and we didn’t have the opportunity to see Zac singing live along with the entire cast the songs from the trilogy.
