The Netherlands has said it is willing to pay for Leopard tanks for Ukraine from a coalition of European and NATO allies. The corresponding statement was made by the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Kaisa Ollongren, Bloomberg reports.
“It’s definitely something we want to do,” he told reporters in Davos.
At the same time, the minister noted that Western countries are still waiting for the final position of Germany in this matter, adding that he himself is a supporter of the supply of tanks to Ukraine.
Ollongren also recalled that the Netherlands had previously paid for the shipment of Ukraine Soviet T-72 tanks from the Czech Republic, and this procedure could be replicated for the German-made Leopard tanks.
Earlier it was reported that the Netherlands will provide Ukraine with the Patriot air defense system, joining the United States and Germany in strengthening the Ukrainian military air defense arsenal.
