As reporters point out, the numbers could change once the Joe Biden administration completes discussions on the package.
The United States is finalizing a major military aid package to Ukraine that could reach $2.6 billion. On Wednesday, January 18, CNN reports, citing sources of knowledge.
According to one of the sources, the package is not yet final, but could be given before the end of the week and is one of the biggest announced since the beginning of the war.
It is already known that it will include more Bradley armored fighting vehicles, which, along with the Stryker, is a significant increase in the amount of armor that the US has promised to provide Ukraine to fight against Russia.
The list also includes anti-mine vehicles known as MRAPs, the source said.
The package is not expected to include tanks or long-range missiles, which Ukraine has repeatedly requested.
“However, it is likely that the United States will send Ukraine more ammunition for artillery systems and HIMARS missile systems, which have been continuously provided in recent aid packages,” the journalists said.
In addition, the assistance is expected to include missiles for air defense systems.
The next package will be announced following a meeting at the Ramstein base in Germany on January 20. It will be attended by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and the head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley.
