Russian President Vladimir Putin may deliberately not publicly announce the tactical successes of war criminals from the private Wagner army on the front in Ukraine in order to demonstrate his control over the Russian media. This is stated in the report of the American Institute for the Study of War.
The ISW believes that in this way Putin is trying to undermine the influence of the head of the Wagner PPK Yevgeny Prigozhin in Russia. The Kremlin also continues to dispute Prigogine’s claims that Wagner’s forces have captured Soledar.
Kremlin speaker Dmitry Peskov may have indirectly accused Prigozhin of deliberately bringing the conflict between the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Wagner company into the information space. At the same time, Prigozhin continues to make statements that undermine the credibility of the Russian defense department and subjects associated with Putin.
