Finnish company Fennovoima has decided to terminate the contract with Rosatom for the construction of the Hanhikivi-1 nuclear power plant. One of the reasons for the decision was Russia’s war against Ukraine. This was reported in a company statement.

The statement states that the contract for the supply of equipment was terminated due to significant delays and inability to complete the project, while noting that the war against Ukraine exacerbated the risks for the project, and Rosatom did not were able to reduce them. .

According to CEO Joachim Specht, the termination of the contract will affect employees of Fennovoima and the supply chains and the Pyhäjoki region.

It was previously reported that Finnish President Sauli Niiniste on May 12 intends to announce an application for NATO membership.
