Under the guise of such “help” to families searching for the missing, Russian special services collect personal data.

From Russia, they began mass sending SMS messages to the families of Ukrainian prisoners of war with offers to fill out a questionnaire that would supposedly help find their captive relative on the territory of the Russian Federation or in occupied territories of Ukraine. This was reported by the Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

The headquarters warned that the Russian special services, under the guise of such “help” to families searching for the missing, collect personal data, which could worsen the situation of the Ukrainian military in captivity and prevent their liberation.

The coordination headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war strongly recommends to the relatives and friends of our defenders:

ignore any unofficial messages;

do not give any personal information about your relatives to suspicious persons/websites/Telegram channels;

report cases of illegal collection of personal data to law enforcement agencies of Ukraine.

“For the sake of the security of the Ukrainian military, all issues related to their stay in captivity should be discussed at the Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War – the only specialized state institution dealing with these issues of help and release from captivity,” said the headquarters.

It was previously reported that Ukraine is developing an escort system for soldiers released from captivity.
