Despite the regrouping of Russian troops, reinforcing them with new “parts” of Wagner PMC mercenaries, the Russian command failed to achieve the desired victory in the Donetsk region.
Losses of Russian troops near Bakhmut and Soledar in the Donetsk region may reach 20,000 soldiers. This was announced on Thursday, January 12, by Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the OPU, in an interview for Channel 24.
“It is impossible to say exactly what the losses of the Russian army in this direction. But it is not a thousand or two – it is 10, 15 or even 20 thousand in the whole offensive in Bakhmut and Soledar. They do not count the losses there ,” said Podolyak.
According to the adviser, the Russians threw almost the entire combat-ready army at Soledar, including the remnants of the contract army – special forces and landing forces.
At the same time, Podolyak emphasized that the possible occupation of this Ukrainian city would not give Russia any advantages in general.
“The only thing that makes me feel sorry for everything that is happening there is the number of our men who, at 17 degrees below zero, have to keep machine guns in their hands for several days. It is difficult. We are losing our own ,” said Podolyak.
It was earlier reported that the Russian invaders had carried out 91 strikes on Soledar during the day.
