The representative of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Martin Schaefer, proposed to open a special humanitarian corridor, and the President of the country, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, supported the initiative.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced his willingness to open a humanitarian corridor for those wounded as a result of the conflict. He expressed this idea on Wednesday, January 11, at the International Conference of Ombudsmen, reports hurriyet.com.tr.
It was proposed to bring the wounded from different countries of the world, including from Ukraine, to Turkey for treatment. The representative of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Martin Schaefer, proposed the opening of a special humanitarian corridor, and Erdogan supported the initiative.
“We are ready for this. Not only from Ukraine and Russia, but also from Syria, Azerbaijan, Libya, we took the wounded to hospitals, treated them and brought them back. We will continue to do this in the future,” Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.
Today in Turkey there are five commanders from Azovstal who were released from captivity – Sergey Volynsky, Svyatoslav Palamar, Denis Prokopenko, Oleg Khomenko and Denis Shleg. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, they will remain there until the end of the war.
Recall that during the negotiations with Putin on January 5, Erdogan said that peace efforts should be supported by a unilateral ceasefire. After that, Putin announced a unilateral “ceasefire.” However, as noted in Kyiv, the Russian Federation lied again.
Erdogan was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize
