Latvia is considering sending weapons to Ukraine, as well as training the Ukrainian military.
Lithuanian Defense Minister Inara Murniece said Latvia may transfer a new batch of Stinger anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine. Such a decision may be announced at the next meeting of Ramstein. He said this in an interview with a Latvian TV channel.
“In fact, the Ukrainian front is our line of defense, so we are now thinking about how to join a large flow of aid to Ukraine and how to support Ukraine, how to respond to the request of President Volodymyr Zelensky,” said Murniece .
According to him, Latvia is considering sending weapons to Ukraine and training the Ukrainian military.
“Meeting with colleagues in Ukraine, they expressed the greatest gratitude to Latvia for the Stingers that came to the war, this is a very correct decision of the Ministry of Defense, as well as the former minister. We will continue to help the Stinger, we will continue the more intensive training of the Ukrainian military in Latvia,” – the minister said.
Murniece added that “Ukraine highly values unmanned aerial vehicles or drones”, and therefore Latvia may also extend their deliveries.
Recall that earlier the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense announced the directions of military support for Ukraine.
It was also reported that Lithuania and Iceland donated winter clothes for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
