The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, in an evening video message to the people on Monday, January 9, announced that he held a regular meeting of the Headquarters today, where the main attention was paid to situation in Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
“Bakhmut and Soledar, Kremennaya and Svatovo, general prospects in Donbass for the coming weeks. The battle for Donbass continues. And although the invaders are now concentrating their greatest efforts on Soledar, the result of the difficult and this long battle will be the liberation of our entire Donbass,” he assured the president.
Zelensky noted the resilience of Ukrainian defenders.
“I thank all our soldiers who defend our Bakhmut and show the highest endurance! Thank you to all the warriors in Soledar who withstood the new and tougher attacks of the invaders! It is very difficult: there are almost no full wall remaining … Thanks to the tenacity of our soldiers there, in Soledar, we won more time and more forces for Ukraine. And what does Russia want to win there? Everything is completely destroyed, almost nothing life. And thousands of their people were lost: the whole land near Soledar to the troops of the invaders and scars from the blows. Here this is the kind of madness, “said Zelensky.
