The situation on the front line for the first week of the year has not changed significantly, heavy fighting continues in the Lugansk and Donetsk regions.
The Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky visited positions in Ukraine near Bakhmut and Soledar, Donetsk region, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his traditional evening video message.
“Today, the commander of the direction, General Syrsky, traveled around the troops defending the outskirts of Bakhmut and Soledar. He awarded the fighters with awards for their endurance. In the area, he arranged the measures that necessary to strengthen our defense. In particular, the transfer of additional units. And increased fire on the invaders,” said Zelensky.
The President noted that the situation on the front line for the first week of the year has not changed significantly, heavy fighting continues in Lugansk and Donetsk regions.
“Bakhmut remains, no matter what. And even though most of the city has been destroyed by Russian strikes, our soldiers are repelling the continued attempts of Russian offensives there. Soledar remains. This is one of the bloodiest place at the front,” the president said.
He also emphasized that “all our positions, all our defense actions are interconnected, and the stability and effectiveness of front actions as a whole depends on the stability and effectiveness of actions at each point of the front .”
