On January 7, for the first time in decades, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (WTO), Metropolitan Epiphanius, conducts a Christmas service in the Assumption Cathedral on the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Prior to this, services were held here only from the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate (MP).
Near the Lavra in the morning there are a lot of police and the National Guard. Check the documents of those wishing to attend worship.
The Assumption Cathedral and the Refectory Church of the National Reserve Kiev-Pechersk Lavra were returned from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate to the state.
The Metropolitan noted that, despite the war, Ukrainians celebrate Christmas and believe in the victory of good over evil, light over darkness.
At the same time, the Primate of the OCU wished that the Ukrainians would win as soon as possible and that the long-awaited peace would come for our country, and with it all compatriots would return to their homes.
