The first group of Russian prisoners of war were amnestied and released after fighting in Ukraine, the head of the Wagner paramilitary group, whose fighters fight on the front lines alongside Moscow troops, said on Thursday.

“They worked until the end of their contract. They worked honestly, with dignity,” he said in this video broadcast by the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
Prigogine also urged Russian society to “treat with the greatest respect” these men, who fought for six months in exchange for their freedom.
“Don’t drink too much, don’t take drugs, don’t rape women, don’t do stupid things,” Prigogine, also a former prisoner turned businessman, tells them.

Before the conflict in Ukrainemercenaries of this paramilitary group were stationed in Syria, Libya and a number of African countries.
Offer to prisoners
In September, a video appeared on social networks, in which a man, very similar to Prigozhin, in the prison yard invites prisoners to fight in Ukraine.
“If they come to Ukraine and you decide that this is not for you, we will consider it desertion and execute you. Questions, guys? ”, – sounded in the video.
He also ordered them not to surrender and to carry grenades in case they were captured. “If they die, their bodies will be repatriated to the location they indicated on the form,” the statement said.
Prigozhin’s company Concord neither confirmed nor denied that the man was a businessman.
“If I were a prisoner, I would dream of joining this friendly team in order not only to pay off my debt to the Motherland, but to return it with a vengeance,” Concord quotes Prigozhin.
