A senior sergeant in a state of intoxication inflicts fatal injuries on his commander in a military train carriage.
The mobilized Russian was accused of violent actions against the leader, “focused on wartime.” The accused beat his counterpart to death. Currently, the “debaucher” has been arrested for two months while the investigation is underway. This was stated in a press release on the website of the Magnitogorsk Garrison Court.
The incident itself took place on the night of December 23 in the headquarters car compartment of a military echelon at the Misyash station in the Chelyabinsk region.
The mobilized senior sergeant, in a state of intoxication, attacked his commander, who was also called as part of the mobilization. The latter died at the scene from his injuries.
The arrest warrant has not yet taken effect.
Note that the State Duma of the Russian Federation approved a number of amendments to the Criminal Code prior to the announcement of the partial mobilization. They provide harsher penalties for crimes committed “during mobilization or martial law, during war.”
Previously, the maximum punishment under the article for violent acts, in case of serious consequences, was provided for a term of imprisonment of up to eight years, and now it is up to 15 years.
It should be noted that at the end of September, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a law that provides a prison term of up to 10 years for desertion or failure to appear for service.
