A famous Ukrainian poet visited Bakhmut, which remains one of the hottest places in Ukraine, and spoke about the situation here.
Ukrainian musician, poet Sergiy Zhadan, who visited Bakhmut, Donetsk region, told how the city lives today, where fierce fighting is intensifying.
According to him, it is difficult to find surviving houses in the city, but despite all the horrors, people continue to live in it, which is why it remains alive.
“Bakhmut was beaten and burned. You saw yourself in the city, as in a tin drum, regularly beaten with a stick: more vivid and encouraging sounds of our going out, the ugly whistle of their mine. You don’t understand where and when you can fly. The center is empty. civilians find something – a woman sitting on a stump, caught a mobile connection, a man cleans garbage from garbage cans, the wife in love stands at a crossroad, stunned, whispering about something, “Sergey Zhadan describes on his Instagram page.
The musician also published a photo of the destroyed Bakhmut.
“Country fields are visible from the hills – black, silent, frozen. Schools with fallen shutters, abandoned cars of the local population, black birds circling low squares. Three days before the new year,” he summed up.
